Charles Randolph-Wright
Charles Randolph-Wright has established a remarkable and multifaceted career in the entertainment industry, excelling as a director, writer, and producer across television, film, and theatre. He has worked alongside Oprah Winfrey as executive producer and producing director for the OWN series “Delilah,” and directed episodes for TV shows such as “The Santa Clauses,” “Greenleaf,” and others. His debut film “Preaching to the Choir” garnered multiple awards at the American Black Film Festival, and he is an executive producer of the documentary “Maurice Hines: Bring Them Back,” which won the Grand Jury Prize at the NY Doc Film Festival. Wright’s contributions to theatre are equally impressive, having directed the Tony-nominated Broadway premiere of “Trouble in Mind,” the hit musical “Motown: The Musical,” and co-written and directed the new musical “American Prophet: Frederick Douglass in His Own Words.”
A native of York, South Carolina, and a distinguished Duke University alumnus, he actively contributes to the artistic community through his involvement with various boards and initiatives, such as the American Theatre Wing, the Roundabout Board of Directors, and the Frederick Douglass Family Initiatives. His career is a testament to his talent, versatility, and impact on the arts, making him a prominent figure in American entertainment and a passionate advocate for education.
